Cervical Spondylitis

Cervical Spondylitis, often referred to as neck arthritis, is a degenerative condition of the cervical spine (neck bones), commonly caused by age-related wear and tear. It's very common after the age of 40, but can also occur earlier due to bad posture, lifestyle, or injury.

Causes of Cervical Spondylitis

  1. Aging – Natural degeneration of discs and joints.
  2. Poor posture – Prolonged sitting, mobile/computer overuse.
  3. Neck injuries – Accidents, whiplash.
  4. Repetitive neck motion – Certain jobs or sports.
  5. Genetics – Family history can play a role.
  6. Dehydrated spinal discs – Loss of cushioning over time.

Ayurvedic View of Cervical Spondylitis

In Ayurveda, it's associated with "Vata Vyadhi" – a disorder primarily caused by imbalanced Vata dosha (air + space element). It affects the Asthi dhatu (bone tissue) and Majja dhatu (bone marrow/nervous system).
